All paths are paved and easy to walk. At the top of the Gulch you'll find restrooms, concession stand and gorgeous scenery. We were there on Memorial Day weekend so it was crowded. Took a boat tour from downtown Wisconsin Dells to see the Upper Wisconsin River lasting 2 hours. The tour guide and captain of the boat were personably and shared the history of the area. The boat stopped here for a 20 minute visit; the walkway was narrow in spots but permitted an up and close view of the terrain.It's been 40+ years since I was in Cold Water Canyon which used to be a stop on the regular upper dells boat trips along with Witches Gulch and Stand Rock. It was my understanding that Cold Water Canyon was owned by a privet party and leased to the dells boat trips and the lease ended years ago.We joined the Upper Dells boat tour ($32 per person) and the first stop was at The Witches Gulch. You'll see a narrow canyon carved by wind & water, spectacular sandstone formations filled with fern glens & whirlpool chambers. What is noticeable is the 10-15 degree drop in temperature when you are walking through the canyon..
